Welcome to our website!

In the early twentieth century the Croatian people embraced the great ideals of the Radić brothers and joined the branches of the HPSS in large numbers. These branches promoted education, through which national awareness and self-confidence grew. Croatian cooperatives, the Croatian Sokol and other organizations were founded.

Our ancestors brought these noble principles to Canada and officially founded HSS Ontario as early as 1933. In the following years they continued their work across Canada, promoting patriotism and the sovereignty of the Croatian state.

Vjera u Boga i seljačka sloga!

HSS Vancouver Members’ Meeting

Our regular meeting took place at our hall on April 29, 2018.

The president opened the meeting with the motto “Vjera u Boga i seljačka sloga.” This was followed by a short history talk on the “Banovina of Croatia” and the role it played in bringing our dreams of independence closer to reality. The talk was well received.

The executive committee updated members on the regular work of our branch, the date set for “Croatian Day” (to be held on June 17), the approval of a donation to the Knights of Columbus golf tournament, the website and other matters. They also reported on the Main Committee meeting in Montreal.

As is our custom, the meeting was followed by a reception, this time with a barbecue, salads, our good homemade wine, coffee and sweets.

All in all, a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
